Professorship is only achieved by active academics who have devoted their time to teaching and research at the University. In addition, certain steps are followed before an academic is promoted to the rank of professor. Someone has to rise through the ranks just like any other professional executive.

In the university promotion system, an academic must attain the rank of lecturer, reader and then professor after having published the required number of scholarly articles in his field of research. The time spent in the degree is also important for promotion to the next degree in academia, especially in university, there is usually three years between successive degrees.

To be promoted to the rank of professor, a person must have at least ten years of teaching and research experience at the University. Dr I sa Ali Pantami has not been active in academia for over six years now.

In order to do Dr Pantami justice, regarding the recent rumor of being promoted to professor rank, I am performing a background check on the citation website indexed by popular academics such as Google Scholar and Research Gate. to see his recent scientific contribution on cyber security but found it weak or insufficient to qualify him for promotion to the rank of professor. Dr Pantami, as a modern scholar, only has a Research Gate account with only 23 citations and a Research Gate score of 3.66.

Academic publications are totally different from other forms of publications that public figures such as the Honorable Minister Dr Isa Ali Pantami have presented at meetings or retreats. Articles are accepted as scholarly articles after being submitted to various rigorous blind journals by professionals from different academic professions before being published. In fact, most standard journals reject more articles than they accept for publications.

I’m not in any way trying to belittle Dr Isa Ali Pantami, in fact I am personally his fan, but when it comes to something very critical like this we have to ask questions.

My question is: who promoted Dr Isa Ali Pantami to professor?
